Salem Family: "Angels Among Us" is an annual fundraising event to raise money for the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center. One of Salems own, third grader, Cameron Jackson, continues his battle with brain cancer and has a team named "Action Jackson". This event will be on Saturday, April 30th. We had a successful 2010 Fall running season which ended in our team winning the Jingle Bell Cup at the Jingle Bell 5k on December 4th. Since it is winter, SOTR will take a break until the weather gets a little warmer. See you in March!

For the first time in Salem Elementary history, students are racing (literally) to raise money for Smart Boards. These boards are interactive and connected directly to the internet giving each child the opportunity to be 21st century learners.

Volunteer registration!

We received notification today that Wake County will close the volunteer registration system this Friday, 10/08/10 at 5:00 p.m. At this point, it will not reopen again this year. Therefore, if you have parents that have not registered by Friday, they will not be able to be a volunteer in your classroom, go on field trips, help out with field day, etc. unless they have registered by this Friday.

Car-Pool Procedure

We are making a request that morning car-pool follow the same line-up procedure as afternoon car-pool. When you enter the school driveway continue past the elementary entrance using to the middle school bus loop to turn around. This will pull all the traffic off Old Jenks and allow cars to go to the middle school unencumbered. It should also make exiting from morning car-pool easier.
